JOB SUMMARY: The Bilingual Medical Assistant & Clinical Preceptor will play a dual role within our medical team. As a Medical Assistant, this position will perform essential clinical and administrative duties to support the efficient operation of our patient-centered clinic. As a Clinical Preceptor, this role will be responsible for orienting, supervising, and teaching students in the medical assistant program, providing hands-on training, and helping students develop the necessary
skills for entry-level roles in healthcare. This position requires someone who is passionate about patient care, education, and creating a positive, engaging learning environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Bilingual Medical Assistant:
• Patient Interaction: Welcome patients, check their well-being, and report any issues or concerns to the provider.
• Clinical Responsibilities: Collect medical histories, conduct basic lab tests (e.g., blood draws), perform routine tests (EKGs, vision/hearing exams, spirometry), and assist providers during exams and procedures.
• Patient Education: Explain treatment plans, medication instructions, and dietary recommendations.
• Lab and Specimen Management: Ensure proper preparation, labeling, and storage of lab samples, as well as coordination with the laboratory for specimen pickup.
• Administrative Support: Schedule appointments, Medication Prior authorizations, coordinate referrals, and ensures insurance information accurate, medical records updates, Review and address all jellybeans per Tepeyac’s guideline in eClinical Works (EMR).
• Environmental Management: Maintain a clean, safe clinic environment, ensuring exam rooms are stocked with medical supplies and instruments are sterilized as required.
• General Clinic Support: Assist with patient transportation coordination, answering phones, and general office duties as needed. Arrange for hospital admissions, specialty care and laboratory services
• Patient Interpretation: May assist with interpretation services as needed for Spanish-speaking patients.
As a Clinical Preceptor:
• Student Supervision: Guide and supervise medical assistant students during their clinical rotations, ensuring safe practice and supporting their learning.
• Hands-On Training: Provide direct instruction and feedback on clinical skills, ensuring students understand and can perform essential medical assistant duties.
• Collaboration: Work with the Work-Based Learning and Practice Manager to ensure students meet clinical learning objectives.
• Performance Evaluation: Track students' clinical progress, offer feedback, and provide guidance on areas for improvement.
• Curriculum Support: Review the assigned curriculum with students, offering practical insights to enhance their learning.
• Student Development: Foster a positive, supportive learning environment by mentoring and encouraging students, offering additional tutoring when necessary.
• Clinical Scheduling: Collaborate with students and clinical leads to create and manage clinical schedules that meet training requirements.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Attend required internal meetings, training, and events.
• Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Education & Experience:
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) preferred.
• At least one year of experience in community healthcare or a multi-group health center setting preferred.
• Minimum of five years of relevant healthcare experience for Clinical Preceptor role.
• Experience teaching or mentoring students preferred but not required.
• Oral and written fluency in both English and Spanish is required.

• Technology: Proficiency in eClinical Works (EMR), Microsoft Office, and standard office equipment.

Physical Demands:
• Regular sitting, standing, and walking throughout the clinic.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform clinical tasks requiring manual dexterity.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends for student supervision.
Pay and Benefits: Tepeyac Community Health Center offers a full compensation package to all full-time employees. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, a flexible spending account, a 401k, disability insurance paid for by Tepeyac, eight paid holidays, approximately four weeks of paid time off each year and over a week of sick time. This position is 40hrs/wk with an hourly rate of $25. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm with an hour for lunch. The clinic is also open on Saturdays from 8:00am - 12:00pm. The MA team rotates through the Saturday schedule, so each person works one or two Saturdays a month and then has a half day off the following week.
Vaccinations: As required by Colorado’s CMS Vaccine Mandate, all Tepeyac Community Health Center employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, subject to the requirements of the American with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. § 12101 et seq..), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (42 U.S.C. § 2000e et seq.), the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act (C.R.S. § 24-34-401 et seq.), and any other relevant federal or State law.
