As a Bioprocess Associate, you will play a key role in advancing innovative biomedical projects by independently preparing, executing, assaying, and monitoring bioreactor experiments. You will collaborate across departments to design and execute experiments, analyze data, and ensure adherence to documented protocols and customer requirements.
At the Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation (TIBI), we are at the forefront of biomaterials and tissue engineering for translational biomedical research, partnering with clinicians, biotech companies, and pharmaceutical organizations to develop cutting-edge therapies and precision medicine technologies. In this role, he will work alongside experts in engineering, data science, and medicine, contributing to impactful research and the development of novel biomaterials, engineered tissues, and real-world clinical applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct and optimize cell culture and bioreactor operations, including the preparation, maintenance, and characterization of cell cultures.
- Actively participate in the development of processes for cell culture and tissue engineering, ensuring compliance with established protocols and maintaining accurate batch records.
- Support the 3D-printed liver project by providing cell culture expertise and methodology.
- Collaborate on tissue engineering initiatives by supplying cells, developing new methodologies, and optimizing existing protocols.
- Work with a variety of cell types, including but not limited to induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), and endothelial cells.
- Analyze experimental data and contribute to technical reports and publications as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE):
- Bioprocess Associate I Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, biotechnology, microbiology, biochemical/chemical
- engineering, or a related field.
- Preferably 1-2 years’ experience, or academic experience in a laboratory setting
- Bioprocess Associate II Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in biology, biotechnology, microbiology, biochemical/chemical engineering, or a related field.
- 2 years of industry experience working hands on with microbial and/or mammalian bioreactors
- Strong background in cell culture, bioreactor operations, and tissue engineering.
- Experience with iPSCs, MSCs, endothelial cells, or similar cell types.
- Familiarity with 3D bioprinting and biomaterial development is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and work both independently and collaboratively.
- A proactive, innovative mindset to drive process development and optimization.
