Infant Teacher Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a nurturing and dedicated Infant Teacher to join our early childhood education team. The ideal candidate will provide a safe, loving, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants (ages 8 weeks to 12 months). This role involves fostering infants' cognitive, emotional, and physical growth while maintaining open communication with families and collaborating with colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
Infant Care & Development
- Provide responsive and affectionate care to infants, ensuring their individual needs are met.
- Create a warm, stimulating, and safe classroom environment.
- Support infants' development in areas such as motor skills, sensory exploration, and early language acquisition.
- Follow individualized feeding, sleeping, and diapering schedules in accordance with state regulations and parent preferences.
Curriculum & Learning Activities
- Implement age-appropriate activities that support infants' social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Encourage exploration, tummy time, music, reading, and other interactive learning experiences.
- Observe, assess, and document infants' milestones and development.
Health & Safety
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, including proper diapering, handwashing, and cleaning procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
- Monitor infants for any signs of illness or developmental concerns and communicate with parents as needed.
Parent Communication & Collaboration
- Develop positive relationships with parents and provide regular updates on their child’s daily activities, growth, and progress.
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences as needed to discuss developmental milestones.
- Address any concerns with professionalism and empathy.
Teamwork & Professionalism
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment.
- Attend staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions as required.
- Follow all school policies, state licensing requirements, and early childhood education best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma required; CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or higher education in Early Childhood Education preferred. Must have DCF required 45 hours.
- Experience: Previous experience working with infants in a licensed childcare or early learning setting preferred.
- Certifications:CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of infant development and best practices in early childhood education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, nurturing attitude, and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and meet the physical demands of infant care.
