Is responsible for providing music experiences and education to clients, including, but not limited to, program planning and development, and documentation to day program clients, including but not limited to: Active Treatment, in accordance with the individual education and program plans, and when emergencies warrant. This position is also responsible for directing the TERI Band, composing music for the TERI Players film and live theater productions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and delivers adapted music lessons that addresses all levels of client ability.
- Oversees a group of up to 4 adult individuals.
- Teaches a full range of instruments to individuals at all stages.
- Provides creative and client appropriate music activities to individual and groups of clients.
- Uses a range of teaching approaches to make lessons enjoyable, challenging, and productive. Structures lessons to reflect the needs of individuals/groups.
- Provides personal hygiene care to clients as needed, including assistance with toileting and occasional support with feeding.
- Participates in staff meetings and in-service trainings.
- Accompanies and rehearses with guests as needed.
- Leads/oversees rehearsals for musical programming and TERI Special Events, including instrumentalists and vocalists.
Rate: $25 / Hour
Education and/or Experience:
- Music Education, or Music related field, ability to operate sound equipment, required.
- One (1) year prior experience working with developmentally disabled individuals or related field preferred.
Other Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrates personal skills and creative talents in music, preferably proficiency with multiple instruments such as piano, drums, guitar, bass, etc.
- Demonstrates the ability to read, write, sing and perform many songs in numerous genres of music.
- Demonstrates the ability to learn new musical instruments and technology and incorporate new knowledge into classroom activities and instruction.
- Demonstrates the ability to use and operate electronic music and audio equipment such as amplifiers, speakers, monitors, microphones, foot pedals, PA systems, keyboards, sound boards, and other various electronic instruments.
