Position Summary:
Sanford Winery’s Lompoc Tasting Room, located in the Santa Rita Hills region of Santa Barbara County, is seeking an exceptional candidate for the role of Lead Wine Educator. The Lead Wine Educator is a key brand ambassador for Sanford Winery & Vineyard and is responsible for providing guests top of class hospitality and customer service. This position ensures each guest has a memorable and exceptional winery experience, where the focus is on the brand story, customer service, wine education and sales, and wine club sign ups. The Lead works closely with both the Sr. Retail and Hospitality Manager and the Hospitality & Events Manager to support the day-to-day operations of the Tasting Room.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide guests with a memorable and exceptional experience. This includes:
- Educating guests about Sanford Winery’s history, and describing wines and winemaking techniques
- Developing and cultivating ongoing relationships with guests and wine club members to encourage repeat visits, referrals and future sales
- Hosting an engaging tasting with exceptional customer service and hospitality as the foundation
- Setting up and conducting general and private tours and tastings for trade partners, VIPs or club members
- Promote and sell Sanford Winery & Vineyard’s wines, the Wine Club and merchandise
- Assist with daily business functions, including opening and closing procedures, wine and non-wine inventory, and restocking
- Handle cash and credit card transactions through the point of sale system
- Assist management with assigning daily tasting reservations and monitoring daily reservation flow.
- Assist management with monthly inventory management
- Contribute to creation, management and distribution of weekly retail room schedule
- Available to represent Sanford Winery at offsite wine events
Professional Qualifications:
- Proficient in CRM, Internet, Point of Sale
- Prior tasting room, event, restaurant or other sales (hospitality focused) experience
- Self-starter, clear communicator, positive team player, multi-tasker
- Wine knowledgeable, goal oriented and effective sales person
- Must be at least 21 years in age
- Ability to lift up to 50lb
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Must provide proof of full Covid-19 vaccination
