What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Supervisor position at Terminal Security Solutions Inc?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all personnel perform their duties per established policies, procedures, and the relevant Facility Security Plan. The Supervisor is more specifically responsible for:
- Performing roving patrol of clients' accounts in the South Bay area of operations, supporting the Account Manager's and Supervisors needs.
- Ensure regular maintenance and records are maintained for fleet vehicles.
- Performing as the Area Safety Liason (ASL).
- Perform relief for Account Managers and Supervisors as directed and, while performing such duties, will be responsible for the following:
- Scheduling employees to comply with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), ensuring a fair and balanced personnel schedule.
- Controlling and limiting unbillable overtime and double time.
- Maintaining accurate timekeeping of employee hours and time off using payroll software.
- Maintaining adequate staffing levels per client requirements and Facility Security Plan.
- Maintaining compliance with all company policies, procedures, and directives.
- Ensuring all personnel are given required and requested breaks.
- Responding and effectively communicating with Supervisor(s) promptly using email, text, phone calls, and voicemail messages.
- As necessary, performs access control duties as prescribed in post orders and relevant Facility Security Plan.
- Ensuring all personnel are correctly posted and rotated as necessary, following established policies and procedures and the Facility Security Plan.
- Delivering excellent customer service to all clients, terminal employees, vendors, and ship crew members, as training guidelines prescribe.
- The proper safe-keeping and storage of all Sensitive Security Information (SSI) materials.
- Writing and maintaining reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Inspect work areas to ensure compliance with established security, safety, and maintenance regulations.
- Observing and evaluating worker's performance to ensure upward mobility and proper utilization of employee skills.
- Tracking employees' licenses to ensure they are always current.
- Conducting relevant training.
- Availability to be on call and to work weekends and holidays.
- Ensuring all required reports are executed promptly, when necessary.
- Conducting investigations as directed by TSS management.
- Administering discipline per the Company's progressive discipline policy and the CBA.
- Other assignments or tasks as directed by TSS management.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Must be able to communicate in and speak fluent English.
- Must be able to work in a client-focused role within a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks with high accuracy.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
- Must have and maintain a current BSIS Security Guard License (G License) issued by the State of California.
- Must have certified training certificates showing the completion of 40 hours of BSIS skills training at the time of employment.
- Must complete 8 hours of mandated BSIS skills training annually and provide a BSIS-certified training certificate of completion.
- Must have and maintain a current Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Must have a valid California driver's license.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or higher preferred.
- Law Enforcement or Military experience preferred.
- Customer Service experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· During access control, inspect documents such as a TWIC, driver's license, passport, and company ID for validity.
- Must maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Must be able to stand and walk for at least 8 hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on a telephone/VHF two-way radio.
- Must have sufficient computer and writing skills.
