What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift Operator position at Terminal Warehouse Company?
The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle throughout all 5 functions of the warehouse (unload, putaway, re-warehouse, pick, ship). Also, Operators are required to maintain excellent inventory control, a clean working environment and a positive attitude.
Unload: Unload inbound shipments in a safe manner while notating any O, S & D (overages, shortages or damages) on receiving paperwork. *** Take pictures of damaged freight on the container prior to unloading ***
Putaway: After checking the freight in, Operators are responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient movement to a storage location
Re-warehouse: Work with Supervisor to safely and efficiently re-warehouse freight in order to consolidate for future inbounds
Pick: Pull orders efficiently, safely and accurately according to the shipping paperwork issued by the office. Ensure that the exact number and type of product is pulled and shipped in order to maintain excellent customer service and accurate book to physical inventory.
Ship: Safely load outbound trucks with proper load configuration and appropriate reight
Quality: Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality or quantity variances immediately and notate on shipping / receiving paperwork. Document with pictures when necessary.
Inventory: Maintain inventory accuracy by precise receiving and shipping, cycle counts, location transfers, etc. Assist in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation.
Safety/Security: Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards.
