Position Summary :

  • Provides incoming and continuing students with enrollment services including recruiting, academic and career planning, course recommendations, transfer opportunities, scholarship information, basic financial aid counseling, and appropriate service referrals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include :

  • Builds relationships with all entering students (direct from high school, readmits, transfer, College Credit Plus) with a specific focus on assigned target high school / tech center populations.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with secondary school personnel and prospective students' family members, as well as business and industry stakeholders and internal stakeholders, to support students toward positive academic choices
  • Subscribes to the philosophy of a team approach to proactive, developmental enrollment; maintains an understanding of and adapts to emerging technologies and their impact on enrollment
  • Directly provides enrollment advising for entering students and completing course registrations, with a specific assignment to, and concentration on, advising five or more target student populations. Assists with the implementation and coordination of a case management approach to recruiting, retention, student success, and completion initiatives. Recruiting and enrollment advising information may be delivered via classroom, individual appointments, or distance modes. Meets with students individually and in groups, both on campus and throughout the community
  • Manages assigned recruitment territories for the College and participates in College Fairs and other recruiting activities in their designated territory. Drives new student enrollment by attaining territory and segment goals
  • Visits secondary schools and / or tech centers to meet with prospective students, continuing CCP students, parents, and school personnel to educate target populations on TSCC academic pathways. Serves as liaison to assigned high school / tech prep centers to represent enrollment interests and to enhance communication. Spends up to one day per week on site at high school / tech prep centers providing embedded recruiting and enrollment advising as designated
  • Plans and implements outreach activities and information / orientation sessions both on-campus and off-campus to promote academic and career exploration. This includes events like the Annual College Fair, CCP Information Nights, Exploration Days, and the Superintendent's and Educator's Breakfast
  • Remains knowledgeable of admission, enrollment, and registration practices, procedures, and processes, financial aid, academic programs, degree audits, and College and state-level dual enrollment practices, procedures, and policies associated with program offerings. Maintains comprehensive understanding of admissions, advising, financial aid, and student support services in order to coach students to success
  • Provides referrals to appropriate campus services when encountering academic or non-cognitive obstacles. Clarifies students' goals; helps create, and proactively maintains, a personalized student plan to help students reach those goals
  • Utilizes client resource management system (CRM) and other relevant databases to track student contacts and information. Contributes to communication flows for inquiry through registered students, adapting messages to reflect best practices as well as special events
  • Trains students to provide campus tours, complete outreach calls to prospective and enrolled students as part of structured calling campaigns, and assist with on-campus visit programs
  • Provides back-up coverage to front desk operation including answering and routing phones, welcoming guests, and responding to office voicemail and email boxes
  • Adheres to ethical standards including the National Association of College Admission Counselor standards and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines, and is knowledgeable about appropriate federal, state, and College policies, practices, and procedures. Updates student records and maintains confidential student information

  • This position requires travel as well as working some evenings and weekends
  • Education and / or Work Experience :

  • Associate's Degree in Communications, Education, Human Relations or related field, Bachelor's Degree in College Student Personnel preferred
  • One or more years work experience in higher education and / or enrollment advising preferred
  • Other Skills and Abilities :

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with a variety of students, including students interested in distance learning opportunities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of College degree program requirements and understanding of curriculum
  • Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills; listening skills to accurately interpret what others are saying; ability to articulate
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate one-on-one, in small groups, and in classroom situations
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a dynamic, changing environment required
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to work as a team player and collaborate with colleagues
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software with emphasis on Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
