The Position:
Terra is currently seeking an experienced Superintendent.
Position Summary:
This position will be responsible for overseeing and managing daily operations on our commercial construction projects. The Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to quality and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of construction processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all on-site construction activities, ensuring work is inspected and completed according to plans, specifications, and project schedule.
- Review construction documents for planning and constructability.
- Develop and maintain site utilization plans.
- Participate in development and management of the project schedule, coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and project managers.
- Provide regular updates on project status, potential issues, RFI's and solutions.
- Maintain detailed project logs, daily reports, and site documentation.
- Utilize 3-week and 6-week look ahead schedules.
- Obtain necessary inspections with local code enforcement officials.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for project managers, clients, architects, and engineers.
- Lead site meetings and tours.
- Practice Lean Construction Principles.
- Generate and manage timely completion of all punch list items.
- Adhere to and promote Terra's Safety and Quality Control practices and policies.
- Provide safe, organized and efficient working conditions for trade partners.
- Maintain a safe and clean project site.
- Participate in project pursuit and preconstruction efforts as required.
- Ability to mentor and train Field Engineers, Assistant Superintendents and other project team members.
- Foster and build relationships with owners, design partners, trade partners and suppliers.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong background in commercial projects such as office buildings, retail, healthcare, or industrial.
- Understanding of permitting and inspection processes with authorities having jurisdiction.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to prioritize the daily administration of each project.
- Strong analytical skills. Proficiency in reading plans, specifications, and project documents.
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Procore and Email correspondence.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, construction engineering, civil engineering, or equivalent education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience as a superintendent in commercial construction with a proven record of successful outcomes.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in Procore.
- Completed OSHA 30 Construction Course required (or ability to obtain).
- First Aid and CPR Training (or ability to obtain).
- Erosion and Stormwater Management Certification (or ability to obtain).
Other:
- Valid Driver's License, have access to a vehicle, ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record, and ability to adhere to Terra's Vehicle Policy.
- Travel and temporary relocation to project sites within Minnesota may be required.
