The Role

Terra Dotta, the global leader in solutions for academic mobility, is seeking a visionary and results-driven General Manager (GM) to lead our Study Abroad portfolio. This role will own the product vision, strategy, and execution, driving the P&L and delivering on our three-year forecast. The GM will also oversee the rebuilding of our product set on a new platform and ensure the portfolio"s success in delivering value to institutions worldwide.

Study Abroad refers to managing study abroad and associated programs in the U.S., as well as international mobility outside the U.S. It supports universities in handling applications, managing relationships with other universities and providers, enhancing student participation, ensuring duty of care for traveling students, and providing insights to improve program outcomes.

What you"ll do :

The GM will lead cross-functional teams—including sales, implementation operations, and engineering—ensuring alignment and collaboration across the organization. This individual will also work closely with customers facing challenges with the current product, helping them transition to improved solutions and enhancing their overall experience with Terra Dotta's offerings.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Product Ownership & Strategy : Own the product profit & loss operations (P&L), ensuring delivery on financial targets and the execution of the three-year forecast. Define and implement the product vision, strategy, and plan for the Study Abroad portfolio, which includes both U.S. and international mobility programs.
  • Platform Rebuild & Product Evolution : Oversee and be accountable for a rebuild of the Study Abroad product set on our new platform, ensuring a seamless transition and enhanced value to customers.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership : Coordinate with horizontal teams, including sales, implementation, support, SaaS operations, and engineering, to ensure successful execution of the product roadmap and strategic outcomes.
  • Customer Satisfaction & Experience : Own customer satisfaction metrics and be the primary point person for improving the customer experience with the product set. Engage with customers facing challenges and guide them toward improved solutions, working closely with internal teams to address concerns and elevate their experience.
  • Go-to-Market Strategy : Collaborate with sales and solutions teams to develop and execute go-to-market strategies for the Study Abroad portfolio. Ensure pricing, messaging, and sales enablement efforts are aligned with the overall product vision and market needs.
  • Financial Accountability : Manage and monitor the product's financial performance, including budget management and forecasting, to ensure the product meets or exceeds revenue and profitability goals.
  • Customer-Driven Innovation : Actively gather and incorporate customer feedback into the product roadmap, driving continuous innovation that keeps Terra Dotta's offerings competitive and responsive to market demands.
  • Team Development & Leadership : Mentor and lead the product management and product ownership teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence. Encourage cross-departmental cooperation to meet product and company-wide goals.

Key Qualifications :

  • Extensive experience in product management or general management, ideally within a SaaS or technology-driven organization.
  • Proven track record in managing product P&L and delivering financial results.
  • Strong background in leading product rebuilds, platform migrations, or significant product evolution efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve customer satisfaction and drive enhancements in customer experience.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and leading complex product initiatives.
  • Familiarity with higher education, preferably within the study abroad or international / outgoing space, is highly desirable.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • 10 years of experience in product management, general management, or a related field.
  • Experience managing global product teams and leading remote / distributed teams.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional alignment and motivate teams toward shared goals.
