Summary / Objective
Responsible for the design and preparation of plans, details, construction budgets, code compliance, design calculations, and specifications for assigned projects. Responsible for implementation of Quality Control - Quality Assurance practices as approved for the project. Work and coordinate with CAD personnel and administrative assistants for compliance with project requirements.
Essential Functions
- Interfaces with various disciplines to ensure design process is coordinated, complete and comprehensive
- Develops design concepts, studies, design options, and establishes design criteria
- Performs analysis and design calculations, documents design procedures, and assures design is in compliance with codes and standards
- Prepares the design documents including schematics, design details, calculations, specifications, and utility coordination
- Prepares the project deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, cost estimates and commissioning documents
- Maintains the project records for information and data necessary for documentation of the design process
- Monitors projects to assure schedule, budget and design are consistent with project criteria and scope of work
- Recognizes scope creep and brings to the attention of the Project Manager
- Prepares and coordinates the design of assigned civil, transportation, structural and / or site engineering plans
- Coordinates and completes all permits requirements
- Performs field investigations and construction inspection duties as assigned
- Performs other duties as required by Project Managers / Department Manager
