- The head coach is responsible for all aspects of the Women’s Soccer program, including, but not limited to, practice and game preparation, recruiting and retention of student-athletes, hiring and supervision of assistant coaches, budget management, fund-raising, scheduling, inventory, marketing, public relations, community service and strict adherence to all NJCAA, OCCAC and Terra State Community College rules.
- Work Schedule: 20 hours/weekly.
- Directs the planning, organizing, scheduling, and coaching of the Soccer program.
- Provides leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes.
- Directs and coordinates the activities of the soccer staff to include the planning, organizing and coaching of the team; ensures compliance with College, OCCAC and NJCAA policies.
- Directs the soccer staff and team in the preparation of analysis of opponents, analyzes statistics and tactical data of opponents.
- Counsels team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters; consults TSCC administration and faculty for resolution of problems as required.
- Assigns geographical area to supervise the soccer staff in the recruitment of new players.
- Determines fiscal requirements and prepares budgetary recommendations; monitors, verifies and reconciles expenditures of budgeted funds.
- Directs various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance, appraisals, promotion, transfers and vacation schedules of the soccer staff.
- Studies, evaluates and implements innovations in soccer strategy and equipment. Makes purchasing recommendations to the Athletic Director based on equipment evaluations.
- Develops, coordinates and publicizes (youth and prospect) camps and fundraising activities.
- Works effectively with students and challenges students appropriately with an acceptable level of civility and discourse.
- Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving team goals and objectives. Collects, reports and maintains assessment documentation.
- Represents the Athletic Department in professional, civic, charity and alumni events.
- Supports the mission and strategic priorities of the program, division and TSCC. Actively participates in community organizations service groups or events sponsored by the campus for the community.
- Reports contest results and statistics to Presto in the time frame established by the NJCAA.
- Ensures game film has been made available to the league library/YouTube per OCCAC agreements.
- The position will include frequent evening, nights and weekends.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Updates social media platforms with contest information and results.
- Schedules pertinent posts that showcase human interest stories in Athletics.
- Builds a photograph inventory of athletes, staff and event photos for use throughout the year across platforms.
- Updates old and creates new marketing materials in support of athletics to include electronic materials, handouts and displays.
- Publicizes any camp programs and fundraising activities.
- Works effectively with students and staff with an acceptance level of civility and discourse.
- Works as an ambassador of the College and the College Athletic Department and promotes the vision and mission of the College.
- Supports the mission and strategic priorities of the program, division, and College. Actively participates in events sponsored by the campus for the community as requested by the Athletic Director.
- This position will include frequent evenings and weekends.
- Performs duties as assigned.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Associates Degree preferred.
- Previous coaching experience required.
- Ability to effectively communicate one-on-one, in small and large group situations.
- Ability to develop and complete projects and tasks without continued direct supervision.
- Proficient in word-processing and presentation software, internet, and e-mail.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student and community population.
- Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work a combination of days/evening/weekend schedules.
- Proven record of integrity and leadership.
- A commitment to the academic success and graduation of student athletes.
- Knowledge of state, nationwide and international recruiting is preferred.
- Willingness to advance the goals of the Athletics Department.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to pass and maintain a background check.
- Maintains certification for CPR, AED use, general first aid, blood borne pathogen cautions and sexual harassment.
