Campland on the Bay is a full-service, destination RV resort. Located in the Pacific Beach neighborhood of San Diego, we occupy 40 prime acres on Mission Bay just east of Crown Point. The recreation leader’s primary role is to lead, engage, and supervise all recreational activities with sound judgement. Recreation leaders monitor all games and activities to ensure everything is conducted in a safe manner. They create an inclusive environment that allows all guests to participate as well as control lines, enforce skateboard park rules and other tasks assigned by management. Approximately, 25-38hr/week. We are EOE M/F/D/V.
Typical job duties:
- Organize, manage, and officiate all games, tournaments, arts & crafts, special events, and other activities as assigned
- Games are but not limited to, dodgeball, soccer, basketball, capture the flag, wiffle ball, kickball, ping-pong, horseshoes, bean bag toss, trivia, and bingo
- Provide leadership in athletic activities and teach fundamentals of play and sportsmanship
- Issue and maintain equipment and supplies
- Ensure and maintain discipline and safety of guests in recreation areas
- At any event for which lines form, ensure guests move through in an orderly fashion and use the attractions safely; may check tickets or other methods used to show guests have paid to use the water slide
- Contact security as instructed by management
- Inform guests of upcoming activities and special events
- Observe necessary precautions to ensure the safety of guest participants and guest spectators
- Assist in operations and general maintenance of recreational areas, such as cleaning, maintain records, and complete forms
- Open and close recreation office and related facilities, including set-up/tear-down
- Maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, managers, and all other departments by providing excellent customer service
- Adherence to all guests and employee injury and incident reporting policies per the TVM Handbook
- Performs other duties as requested, developed or assigned.
- Oversee the pool and enforce rules, minimal maintenance of pool area, straightening chairs, tables, and umbrellas.
Requires:
- Good physical condition
- Knowledge of the rules and skills involved in recreational activities
- Positive, upbeat personality works well on a team, desire to learn and able to multi-task
- Ability to communicate clearly with guests, vendors and employees
- Have the courage and confidence to approach guests to enforce water slide, pool, and skateboard park regulations make sure thy follow recreation activities’ guidelines
- Able to tolerate working outdoors for long periods, confidently and courteously approach strangers, exercise good judgment
- Available to work weekdays, weekends, mornings, days, evenings and all holidays.
Preferred: experience working in a similar job for a hotel, motel, or other travel, tourism and leisure-industry businesses
Working Conditions (most activities take place outside):
- Sitting, standing or walking for long periods while supervising participants and monitoring playing areas
- Intermittent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting at the waist and extending arms above and below the shoulders while demonstrating recreational activities or using equipment
- Pushing, pulling and/or lifting equipment (with assistance as needed)
- Exposure to a variety of weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, sunshine, wind)
- Slippery or uneven surfaces
