What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resort Dockhand (Seasonal) position at Terra Vista Managment, Inc.?
Campland's Marina is on beautiful Mission Bay. Our dockhands wear a lot of hats: they operate the Marina store, which includes ringing up sales on the cash registers, perform maintenance on our rental boat fleet, keep the store and docks clean, and anticipate guest questions by providing information about the local area. Dockhands also rent bikes, surreys, kayaks and other land and water sports gear, and install fanciful bike lights. Must be available to work days and evenings as wells on weekends and holidays. Some overtime may arise, too. Pays $18.09/hour; 8-40 hours/week. Eligible for bonus. EOE M/F/D/V
Must be at least 18 years old with good math, communication, cleaning, speaking and writing skills as well as basic boating knowledge, knowledge of sail and powerboat mechanics and good boat handling skills. Dockhands work in indoor and outdoor conditions. Outdoor conditions include wet and slippery surfaces and being on boats or catamarans that bob and roll when floating. Dockhands lift, pull, and push objects with their arms and hands and these may weigh up to 50 lbs. They also drag boats or catamarans from the beach into the bay. Dockhands must be able to stand and walk on uneven, wet or slippery surfaces and wade or swim. Perks: Free use of marina vessels as long as they aren’t rented, a truly beautiful work location and fun co-workers.
Desired: prior experience using cash registers and installing specialty bike lights.
