Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe administration of medications to residents in assisted living and memory care settings. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and patient care, particularly for seniors and individuals with disabilities. The Medication Technician will work closely with nursing staff to provide high-quality care while maintaining the dignity and comfort of our residents.
Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications to residents in accordance with established protocols and regulations.
- Monitor residents for any adverse reactions or side effects from medications, reporting changes to nursing staff promptly.
- Maintain accurate medication records and documentation, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the development of individualized care plans, collaborating with healthcare professionals to meet the unique needs of each resident.
- Provide personal care assistance to residents as needed, including catheter care and support for daily living activities.
- Educate residents and their families about medication management, potential side effects, and the importance of adherence to prescribed regimens.
- Uphold a clean, safe, and organized environment within the facility, adhering to infection control protocols.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Medication Technician or similar is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and experience in patient care, particularly in senior care settings such as assisted living or memory care facilities.
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating strong independent judgment when necessary.
