General Responsibilities :
Are you looking to join a growing cultural resources team to help complete exciting archaeological projects including survey, testing projects, and data recovery excavations? We are looking for a Senior Archaeologist to work in our Tempe, Arizona office as part of our Environmental Services Line, cultural resources, group in the Western Rocky Mountain Division. As part of our team, you will collaborate with our established PIs and network of archaeologists across the nation. This is a full-time salaried position with health care and retirement benefits.
Conduct cultural records reviews, archaeological surveys, Phase I testing, Phase II data recovery, archaeological monitoring, archaeological mitigation, preparation of archaeological plans and reports, and contribute cultural information for environmental documents. Identify, evaluate and recommend risk and mitigation strategies / designs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Prepare applicable risk assessments and technical documents including proposals, reports and regulatory agency correspondence.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities :
- Senior-level, experienced, scientific professional able to manage small-, medium-, and large-sized cultural resources projects across the U.S. Southwest.
- Ability to complete projects on-time and within budget.
- Operate as field director and Principal Investigator for survey, excavation, and monitoring fieldwork.
- Work with senior staff to prepare cost estimates and proposals from small-, medium-, and large-scale projects.
- Understand and adhere to project-specific client / agency guidelines and standards for fieldwork and reporting.
- Oversee the analysis of field and laboratory data; synthesize these data into written reports.
- Author technical reports, research designs, treatment plans, and other technical documents.
- Strong understanding of client and agency guidelines and standards for fieldwork and reporting.
- Contribute to business development for office.
- Coordinate and assist internal and external clients with cultural resources regulatory compliance.
- Supervise and mentor cultural resources staff members of diverse experience and levels of expertise, especially in regard to Section 106, evaluations of site eligibility, site recording protocols, and research designs.
- Maintain quality standards, following safety rules and guidelines.
