Internship Overview
Our technical teams focus on understanding consumer data, identify potential opportunities for future brand partnerships, and help refine the technical aspects of recycling-related processes. Ideal interns are data-driven, analytics-minded, resourceful and independent researchers able to work both independently and collaboratively. Interns will be tasked with performing data pulls, tracking KPIs, analyzing qualitative and quantitative consumer research and drawing actionable insights. Our technical teams include, Insights, Analytics, and Research and Development which support all of our lines of business.
Other aspects of our technical teams are to help with the upkeep of the facility and ensure that all employees have the means and tools to actively perform their tasks.
Research & Development interns develop recycling solutions for the different waste materials TerraCycle collects. Interns will conduct research on different materials to determine their composition and the various processes needed to recycle the waste. Ideal interns have LCA experience, are pursuing a degree in engineering or science, apt at documentation in a lab setting, and interested in learning about recycling process development. Interns will get hands-on experience learning about various plastics, and work closely with various teams to develop innovative recycling solutions.
Internship Responsibilities - (R&D)
- Partner with the research teams to analyze material characterization and performance and assist in developing recycling processes (laboratory)
- Assist in data analysis for all Life cycle assessments and carbon accounting
- Additional projects as assigned
Facilities interns will work closely with the maintenance staff to learn about continued and proper maintenance of a commercial facility. Interns will learn the proper ways to inspect, diagnose and repair issues that arise with HVAC, electrical and water systems. Interns will also help with special projects that may arise this includes working with the design team. Interns will also be involved in verifying and accepting facilities tickets and the best practices for ticket management.
IT/Office interns will work with the IT department based in Hungary and the onsite IT personnel to ensure that all employees have consistent and proper equipment to help with daily tasks. Regular management of IT inventory and rectification of IT tickets. Interns will work on the creation and implementation of an upgraded camera system, as well as assist users with simple computer repairs/problems.
Internship Responsibilities - (IT & Facilities)
- Partner with teams to analyze data relevant to the department
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis for better decision making
- Support the improvement of team processes
- Support the improvement/management of the ticket system
- Support onsite facilities/maintenance personnel in building upkeep and repairs
- Support the completion of IT related tickets and request including management and repair of IT equipment
- Research and development of upgraded camera system
- Additional projects as assigned
Requirements
- Must be able to commit to minimum 16 hours per week
- Must be able to report to the office a minimum of two days per week
Internship Qualifications - (R&D)
- A high school diploma or equivalent GED
- If enrolled in a college or university, in good academic standing
- Pursuing a degree in Material Science, Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Sustainability, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Polymers or any related fields.
- Intermediate skill in Google Suite
- Familiar with basic wet chemistry equipment and lab safety protocols.
- High level of effectiveness in written, oral and digital communication
- Knowledge on Life Cycle Assessment software is a plus.
