Overview
As the general manager of a multifaceted business, you will work with the established department leads in the day-to-day operations of the Brewery Taproom, Distillery Speakeasy, Back-40 Bar, Kitchen, and events. You will also work closely with the operations manager and ownership to collaborate and coordinate efforts. It will be the general manager’s responsibility to grow and promote the business, ensure a superior customer experience, and maintain and inspire a collaborative, fun, and creative work environment that engages both the patrons and staff.
We are looking for a candidate that stays calm under pressure and knows how to switch gears easily; has strong interpersonal skills and a passion for providing excellent customer service; and knows how to delegate tasks, lead by example, and inspire employees to work hard.
Operations
- Control profit & loss, maintain inventory, manage labor, review financial reports, and take appropriate actions to boost profitability.
- Work with the existing leads to control and manage day-to-day FOH and BOH operations in the Brewery Taproom, Distillery Speakeasy, Back-40 bar, and kitchen.
- Maintain and update systems and policies for staff to improve efficiency, inventory control, and quality of service.
- Manage all necessary repair and maintenance issues and supervise cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
- Assist in the development, coordination and execution of on-site events and marketing operations.
Staff Management
Supervise a team of employees; work to create a cohesive unit of people who effectively communicate and represent the Terramar brand. Lead by positive and creative example and uplift our staff during busy moments in a fast-paced environment.Ensure accurate communication occurs regularly between all departments, staff, managers, and owners.Maintain a hiring process for staff that ensures qualified people are selected, trained, and retained. Ensure staff are properly trained, conduct performance appraisals, motivate and inspire staff, take disciplinary action, and if necessary, terminate.Maintain a professional and fun atmosphere that ensures top employee safety standards and provides guidelines to personnel to eliminate hazards and dangers in the workplace.Set and demonstrate by example the expectation for FOH / BOH crew members in maximizing productivity, maintaining cleanliness, organization and food quality while providing accurate speedy service, and hold staff accountable to these expectations.Schedule and staff department personnel according to levels of business and budgetary guidelines.Customer Service
Ensure food and beverage quality and customer satisfaction.Handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a professional manner.Create an outstanding dining experience by maintaining positive guest relations, and regulating presentation, taste, service, and atmosphere for all guests. Ensure products are consistent with Terramar’s brand and quality standards.Encourage product sales by suggesting food and drink pairings, upselling, and educating customers about our brewery, cidery and distillery products and merchandise.Compliance
Keep the facility and staff in compliance with all federal, state and local authorities. Maintain food safety and alcohol serving certifications, and model exemplary food health safety practices to employees.Work with Operations Manager to create and maintain a preventive maintenance program with regards to facility, equipment, and grounds maintenance.Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years of full service, high volume, restaurant management experience.Strong understanding of cost and labor systems that lead to restaurant profitability.Comfort working with budgets, payroll, revenue, and forecasting.Strong knowledge of front and back of house operations including food, beverages, staff supervision, inventory, and food safety.Strong writing and documentation skills.Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, Canva, POS Systems, and restaurant management software.High personal integrity, professionalism, and maturity.Keen attention to detail.Proven problem-solving abilities.Ability to work extended hours.Excellent customer service skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on listening and questioning skills.Ability to stand and walk around a restaurant to supervise operations for 8-10 hours.Ability to lift 50 pounds.Ability to bend, stoop, and raise arms above head on occasion.Company Description
