Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Intern to join our growing team. Reporting to the VP, RF Systems & Payloads, the Software Engineering Intern will support development of key elements of mission and communications subsystems for innovative, high-capability small satellites. This position will participate in exciting product development activities, including phased array antennas, software-defined radios, and radar systems.

Physical Demands
An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. In performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to sit or stand for long durations of time, in addition to bending, reaching, and walking. This would require the ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. This position is generally sedentary, with substantial computer usage.
Work Environment
The job operates in a professional office environment but in a manufacturing company. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.

Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Collaborate with experienced software engineers to develop key operational, test, and interface software for mission applications, test equipment, and embedded hardware
- Collaborate with systems, digital, and firmware engineers to support development of mission architectures and optimal solutions to complex problems
- Participate in software requirements generation, design, implementation, and testing
- Integrate developed software with hardware test platforms, firmware, and pre-existing software
- Maintain new and pre-existing software solutions to enhance feature sets and to consistently improve overall stability
- Ability to work on-site in Melbourne, FL
- Rising junior, senior, or graduate student in an applicable engineering or science discipline
- Academic excellence (GPA of 3.5 or higher)
- Meticulous attention to detail in design and documentation
- Proficient with Microsoft Office productivity tools
- Excellent collaboration and organizational skills
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to self-govern with minimal supervision, establish workload priorities, and to utilize efficient time management practices to achieve assigned tasks
- U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
- Additional preferred experience:
- Software development for low-power system-on-chip, bare-metal firmware, microcontrollers, or similar platforms
- Experience with embedded or real-time operating system development such as embedded Linux or VxWorks
- Knowledge of common data bus peripherals such as I2C, SPI, UART, and TCP/IP
- Experience with DevOps or continuous integration practices and tools
- Experience with oscilloscope, power supply, multi-meter, logic analyzer, and similar standard test equipment
- Ability to interpret schematics and perform basic hardware debug during integration
- Experience with LabView or similar test automation software development
- Familiarity with FPGA development and VHDL programming
- Phased array system design experience
