Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Staff Electrical, Electronic & Electromechanical (EEE) Components/Parts, Materials & Processes (PM&P) Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director, Mission Assurance, the Staff EEE Components/PM&P Engineer will work with a multidisciplinary team, especially engineering, production, test, quality, and supply chain during all phases of product lifecycle including proposal, design, development, production, assembly, test, and mission operations. The Staff EEE Components/PM&P Engineer provides assurance to deliver affordable, high-performance satellite systems that provide product lifecycle reliability and safety and meet internal specifications and customer requirements.

Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Staff Electrical, Electronic & Electromechanical (EEE) Components/Parts, Materials & Processes (PM&P) Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director, Mission Assurance, the Staff EEE Components/PM&P Engineer will work with a multidisciplinary team, especially engineering, production, test, quality, and supply chain during all phases of product lifecycle including proposal, design, development, production, assembly, test, and mission operations. The Staff EEE Components/PM&P Engineer provides assurance to deliver affordable, high-performance satellite systems that provide product lifecycle reliability and safety and meet internal specifications and customer requirements.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Subject matter expert for EEE components, evaluate component-level requirements, parts selection, and address obsolescence and reliability issues
- Evaluate designs and operations for potential component failure modes to ensure the integrity of satellite vehicles and associated modules and payloads.
- Work collaboratively with hardware and manufacturing engineers to advise on parts selection based on part reliability, availability, cost, and manufacturing processes
- Advise design, engineering, manufacturing/production, customers, subcontract and supply chain management
- Provide input to program managers and proposal teams to review EEE and PM&P requirements, evaluate implementation, identify gaps, and collaborate with functional peers to resolve
- Ensure EEE/PM&P requirements flow down to suppliers and subcontractors
- Analyze and resolve part/material-related manufacturing problems
- Use reliability analysis, failure models and reliability statistics to assess flight hardware reliability risk levels and drive them to closure
- Perform PM&P reliability and failure mode analyses and investigations, including reliving, derating, and worst case analysis (WCA)
- Evaluate component failures and perform failure analysis to understand root cause failure mechanisms and assist with the development and implementation of corrective measures
- Ownership of the PM&P Control Plan and ensure associated practices and standards are in place, e.g., prohibited chemicals and materials, outgassing, tin whisker and red plague control, solder, coatings
- Recommend component selection and engage with suppliers and alternate sources; manage and resolve component obsolescence/end of life (EOL) issues
- Maintain parts datasheets and manage parts library, perform component risk and reliability assessment, BOM review, obsolescence management, counterfeit mitigation
- Perform and review GIDEP and PCN Alerts
Required Qualifications and Skills
- BS degree in electrical engineering.
- 8 years relevant electrical engineering experience, preferably in aerospace
- EEE parts engineering, including parts obsolescence, utilization, and parts library
- Reliability analysis of designs, materials, processes, systems, and manufacturing practices to troubleshoot failures, evaluate qualification test plans, and recommend technical solutions
- Knowledge of component testing and evaluation techniques, e.g., DPA, screening, qualification, lot acceptance
- Application of EEE/PM&P-related standards, e.g. MIL, NASA, ISO, ECSS, IPC
- Failure analyses (FMEA/FMECA) and root cause analysis (RCCA)
- Reviewing EEE/PM&P-related contract requirements, translating to internal practices and procedures, while communicating implementation practices clearly and consistently
- Counterfeit parts and materials detection and prevention, including inspection techniques and test methods
- Excellent written and verbal communication - able to speak, listen and write in both technical and non-technical terms across organizational boundaries and at all levels
- Able to work in a dynamic and fluid team environment - must be able to adapt to changing environments, priorities, and thrive in ambiguity and uncertainty
- Self-motivated team player willing to contribute where needed to get the job done
- US Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD Secret Clearance
- Master's degree in engineering, physical sciences, or business administration
- Familiarity with radiation effects on EEE parts
- Proficient in MS Office, JIRA, Aegis, D365, and common PLM & MES tools
- Experience with Ansys/Sherlock reliability analysis tool
- Experience with and in-depth technical knowledge of passive and active electronic components, connectors, wire and cable, metal finishes, tin whisker mitigation, lead-free solder control, parts obsolescence, end-of-life, and counterfeit parts management
- Experience participating in PMPCB reviews, including preparation and presentation of approval requests for non-standard parts
- Experience presenting at internal and customer readiness reviews, e.g., MRR, PDR, CDR
- Experience presenting results and communicating with customers and senior leadership
- Experience with aerospace customers and related mission/product assurance practices, understanding of satellites, space sensors, and ground systems

Salary : $125,000 - $160,000
