TerranearPMC, LLC (TPMC), a national environmental consulting and remediation firm, is seeking a full-time Water Treatment Operator to support our Burbank Operable Unit.
Overview:
Six full-time operators are necessary to provide for around-the-clock operations and maintenance (“O & M”) of the Burbank Operable Unit (“BOU”), and to provide coverage for vacation, holidays, illness, etc.
The operations staff supports the daily O & M of the BOU on an 8-hour shift basis, in addition to fulfilling specific functions assigned them as described in the sections below.
The operations staff:
- Monitors and controls the BOU facility process and equipment;
- Collects samples for outside laboratory analysis;
- May perform local lab tests for process control input;
- Performs preventive, daily routine and non-routine maintenance tasks;
- Monitors and operates the BOU well field, performs street closures and confined space entries in the well vaults, secures and prepares equipment through lock-out/tag-out and clearance procedures for corrective maintenance; and
- Executes special tasks as required.
Responding to emergencies if and as required at the BOU is the responsibility of the entire staff. All operations personnel are responsible for the identification, correction, and documentation of plant operational problems, under the guidance of the Operations Supervisor. Maintaining records such as log sheets, chain of custody forms and reports/documentation for the BOU is a responsibility of all operations staff.
Job Description:
The Operator performs a variety of tasks, as directed by his/her supervisor, required to maintain quality and production of water at the BOU. The Operator is required to have a basic knowledge of the O & M of a water treatment plant, including the specific functions performed at the BOU at a level required to ensure water quality. Operator work assignments include:
- Availability to work various shifts as assigned.
- Monitoring and operating all plant processes/equipment under the direction of supervisor(s) through written or oral instructions;
- Calculating chemical feed rates and dosages;
- Performing routine maintenance on BOU mechanical equipment and
- Collecting/analyzing water samples for process control and quality assurance.
An Operator is required to have California T-2 Water Treatment certification.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed predominantly outdoors; incumbent is subject to weather and environmental conditions and must be able to climb, bend, reach, kneel, stoop and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. This person must operate physically demanding hand tools. Potential hazards include driving a vehicle, working with mechanical tools and repairing electrical equipment in and around water and wastewater insinuations.
