Terrapin Restaurant & Bistro is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Kitchen Expeditor to be the crucial link between our kitchen and front-of-house team. The Kitchen Expeditor ensures that dishes are plated correctly, meet our quality standards, and are delivered to guests in a timely manner. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the liaison between the kitchen and front-of-house staff, ensuring seamless communication.
- Organize and prioritize orders to ensure timely and accurate food delivery.
- Inspect dishes for proper presentation, portioning, and adherence to quality standards before they leave the kitchen.
- Communicate with chefs, servers, and food runners to coordinate timing and resolve any issues.
- Maintain an organized and efficient expediting station, ensuring tickets are managed accurately.
- Assist in managing the flow of service to keep the kitchen running smoothly, especially during peak hours.
- Uphold health and safety standards, ensuring food is handled properly and served at the correct temperature.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a kitchen expeditor, line cook, or server in a fast-paced restaurant setting is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask under pressure.
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Keen attention to detail and a commitment to food quality and presentation.
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-moving environment.
