REPORTS TO:
This position reports directly to the Fixed Operations Manager.
PURPOSE OF JOB:
This non-supervisory position is responsible for performing timely and effective technical repairs on assigned vehicles, documenting those repairs in computerized systems and other documentation, and for ensuring a superior customer experience. Responsible to ensure achievement of a variety of customer service metrics associated with repair orders with the goal of fixing it right the first time.
JOB DUTIES:
Mechanical Repairs & Communication
- Receive, review, and respond to service repair orders (RO’s) per company standards.
- Discuss any special conditions or problems.
- Perform the work outlined on the repair order with speed, thoroughness, and safety to assure the vehicle is correctly and fully serviced the first time.
- Generally inspect the vehicle for additional service repair work that may be needed, look up time from flat rate manuals, obtain parts pricing as needed, and advise the Assistant Service Managers (ASM’s) so that customers can be notified.
- Properly, thoroughly, and accurately document the repairs made to correct the issues on the repair order.
- Perform any additional repairs that are authorized.
- Communicate to management, Assistant Service Managers, and other relevant staff on any additional time or assistance needed to complete repairs as soon as possible.
- Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers’ performance specifications.
- Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
- Confer with customers to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems and to discuss the work to be performed, as well as future repair requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area.
- Repair or replace parts associated with the repair order, as appropriate.
- Install and/or repair accessories, such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.
- Return and tag all warranty-failed parts to the Parts department, and all parts with core charges.
General
- Ensure prompt and regular attendance.
- Perform other appropriate duties as may be assigned by Management.
- Travel as business needs may require.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school diploma/equivalent is minimally required.
- Automotive technical school experience is preferred.
Experience:
- 5 years of automotive technician experience is preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies:
- Repairing – Repairing vehicles, machines, or systems using the needed tools.
- Arm-Hand Steadiness – The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
- Manual Dexterity – The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
- Hearing Sensitivity – The ability to detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness.
- Trunk Strength – The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without “giving out” or fatiguing.
- Must be able to lift 90 lbs.
- Strong time management and project management skills to coordinate completions of projects as timely as possible.
- Must be able to stand or walk on concrete and other hard surfaces for several hours at a time.
- Must possess and continuously maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
