Job Summary and Qualifications

Position summary : Responsible for the removal of all trash and debris from all designated areas in the hospital and proper disposal of it. Other duties include the moving of furniture and various equipment as assigned by Director of Support Services. Behavioral characteristics :

Must display a friendly, courteous atmosphere when dealing with patients and visitors.

Must be able to deal with all people with tact, and acknowledging patient rights at all times.

Must be able to operate light equipment required to complete assignments.

Ability to perform cognitive tasks.

Dependable and good attendance.

Ability to work and communicate with all employees.

Demonstrates behaviors that are relative to the HCA Mission and Values Statement : “We act with absolute honesty, integrity and fairness in the way we conduct our business and the way we live our lives.” Position responsibilities :

Removes all trash on all floors, and disposes of in accordance with hospital policy and procedures

Disposes of all bio-hazardous waste according to posted operating instruction for the Medical Waste Unit

Cleans and performs daily preventive maintenance on the Medical Waste Unit according to procedures

Keeps all trash collection areas clean and orderly

Cleans morgue and properly disposes waste

Performs other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department

Picks up cartons, plastic bags, and trash around compactor and place in the compactor daily

Cleans trash cans as needed, using hospital approved germicide

Assists with classroom set up as required

Performs duties as a Housekeeping Aide when requested

Attends unit meetings, in services and other educational programs to maintain competency requirements

Performs efficiently with CPCS

Attend Code of Conduct training course annually

Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to HCA’s Code of Conduct

Demonstrates conduct that is reflective of THRH’s commitment to HCA’s Code of Conduct

Understands and satisfies the needs of the patient population appropriate to the age of the patient served (adults, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and parents of neonates)

Adheres to the Standards of Behavior for Terre Haute Regional Hospital as per the Customer Relations Policy

What qualifications you will need :

Essential educational / licensure, skills and experience :

Above average communication skills in all forms

Must be able to read, write and understand oral and written instructions. Valued but not required educational / licensure, skills and experience :

Experience in housekeeping preferred, but not required.
