Our Community Living Specialists have a reputation for providing quality care to individuals needing extra assistance in their personal life such as helping and teaching people with intellectual and developmental disabilities prepare meals, shop for groceries, light housekeeping, laundry, and extracurricular activities that the individual may have.
Other responsibilities may include:
- Participating in developing plan for the home by giving suggestions to the Community Home Manager as to performance levels, interests, likes, and dislikes of clients.
- Keeping accurate, current and confidential objective sheets, behavior logs and house logs.
- Attending ID Team meetings and mini-staffings when needed or scheduled.
- Assisting clients to obtain necessary and adequate community services and integration into the community by participating in activities that are age appropriate.
- Assisting in planning with clients, recreational activities that are community integrated, age appropriate, and meaningful to the development of each client's inclusion interests into their community, i.e. movies, plays, YMCA, shopping, dining out, etc.
- Scheduling and/or accompanying clients to appointments if CHM is not available.
- Providing or making arrangements for the transportation to and from recreational activities and/or appointments and work.
- Administering medication to clients as prescribed by physician, must get CMA certification; consulting with nurse in emergency medical situations and with questions regarding medication administration; following agency policy and procedure regarding medications.
