Job Description :
An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Traffic Engineer (Senior or Mid-Level) to contribute to impactful transportation projects. The selected candidate will lead and support the development of traffic engineering studies in alignment with applicable policies and procedures, including planning, analysis, microsimulation, and on-site refinements. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background and a passion for improving traffic operations and safety.
Key Responsibilities :
Conduct traffic engineering studies following FDOT and other applicable standards.
Prepare and assist with reports, technical analyses, and studies covering areas such as traffic operations, safety, TSM&O, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS).
Apply traffic engineering principles, using procedures and standards such as MUTCD, AASHTO, ITE, and FDOT.
Perform traffic forecasting, operational analyses, ITS planning, and design tasks.
Develop written technical reports that adhere to defined scopes, budgets, and schedules.
Collaborate on tasks related to signal retiming, crash data analysis, and adaptive traffic control.
Utilize traffic engineering software (e.g., Synchro / SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM, CORSIM) to support analyses.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a related discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; a Masters degree is preferred.
Familiarity with traffic engineering standards, manuals, and procedures.
Experience with FDOT traffic studies or similar projects is a plus.
Proficiency in traffic engineering software and MicroStation or similar CADD software is preferred.
Knowledge of signal operations analysis, crash data analysis, and ITS design is advantageous.
IMSA certifications are preferred or should be obtained within six months of employment.
