Job Description :
We are seeking a skilled Traffic Operations / Signal Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of traffic engineering projects, contributing to the development of safe and efficient transportation systems. The selected candidate will play a significant role in performing traffic signal retiming, traffic studies, and safety analyses, as well as assisting senior engineers with proposals and new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities :
Perform traffic signal retiming, including analysis and in-field refinements to optimize signal operations and improve traffic flow.
Assist with engineering reports, studies, and technical analyses in traffic engineering areas such as traffic operations, safety, TSM&O, and ITS.
Apply FDOT and other applicable procedures, specifications, and standards to conduct traffic engineering, safety analyses, traffic forecasting, operational analyses, ITS planning, and design tasks.
Prepare written technical reports meeting specified scope, budget, and schedule.
Collaborate with senior engineers to seek new business opportunities and generate proposals.
Conduct traffic signal analysis, including timing plans, optimization, and in-field adjustments to enhance traffic flow and safety.
Utilize traffic engineering software such as Synchro / SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM, CORSIM, ArcGIS, and Database tools to perform detailed analyses.
Provide technical support in crash data analysis, signal operations, adaptive traffic control, arterial operations, TMC operations, and ITS design.
Work with MicroStation or similar CADD software to review construction plans and ensure compliance with standards.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline with a focus on transportation engineering.
Proficient in MS Office products Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of traffic engineering principles, MUTCD, AASHTO, ITE, and state DOT requirements, policies, manuals, and procedures.
Engineer In Training (EIT) Certification preferred.
Minimum 2 years of related experience, with a Masters Degree preferred.
Previous experience working on FDOT traffic studies and / or other transportation projects is a plus.
Experience using traffic engineering software highly desirable (e.g., Synchro / SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM, CORSIM).
Experience with ArcGIS and Database tools a plus.
Experience in crash data analysis, signal operations analysis, and in-field signal retiming desirable.
Previous exposure to adaptive traffic control, arterial operations, TMC operations, and ITS design is advantageous.
IMSA certifications preferred or the ability to obtain within six months.

Proven experience in client liaison roles, managing project scope and expectations effectively.
Familiarity with regulatory compliance and permitting processes related to traffic engineering projects.
