What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scientist II/ Senior Scientist, Assay Biologist position at Terremoto Biosciences, Inc?
Terremoto Biosciences is looking for a self-motivated and intellectually curious Scientist II or Senior Scientist to help discover a new generation of small molecule cancer therapeutics. The ideal candidate is an expert lab-based in vitro biologist who thrives on rigorous experimentation and is a consummate team player. The successful candidate will be an integral member of a diverse drug discovery team, with ample opportunity to progress their career development in drug discovery.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and execute biochemical and biophysical assays to support various project teams.
- Develop screening approaches and assay cascades to support new target exploration.
- Analyze and QC screening datasets to drive hit finding and SAR in collaboration with chemists and biologists.
- Proactively review literature to bring in newest scientific findings, ideas, and methods/technologies for discovery research.
- Interpret, summarize, and present research findings in internal scientific meetings as part of our collaborative learning culture.
- Actively participate in and partner with multidisciplinary drug discovery teams.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A PhD with at least two years of industry experience OR a BS/MS in in Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related field with 10 years experience in an industry setting.
- Experience developing medium- to high-throughput biochemical and biophysical assays for small molecule inhibitors, including fluorescence-based read outs (i.e., TR-FRET, ELISA, DSF, SPR or BLI).
- Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry techniques.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, strong organizational skills, eager to learn and continuously improve, and a dedicated to quality and integrity. Ability to work within a dynamic, matrixed environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with compound screening databases and data analysis and visualization software, such as CDD, Spotfire, D360, etc is a plus.
- Mammalian cell culture experience is a plus.
* The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in South San Francisco, CA is $140,000 to $160,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Terremoto Biosciences, is a multi-state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work only in other states.
