Position Overview:
The Physical and Antiterrorism Security Specialist will provide essential support in the areas of Physical Security, Antiterrorism, and Emergency Management programs. This role requires access to classified information, including NATO information up to the SECRET level, and involves interaction with secure systems such as the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet). The individual will assist with surveys, security checks, equipment management, and tracking of controlled property to ensure compliance with established security protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Physical Security and Antiterrorism Surveys:
- Conduct physical security and antiterrorism surveys of buildings and areas using established checklists to assess compliance with required security standards.
- Document survey findings and provide detailed reports to the Physical Security Officer for follow-up actions.
- Daily Security Checks and Documentation:
- Perform daily physical security checks and maintain logs for security items, including:
- SF 701 “Active Security Checklist”
- SF 702 “Security Container Check Sheet”
- Equipment inventories and visitor logs.
- Ensure that all records are accurately documented and stored as required in Government-provided workspace.
- Access Control System Operation:
- Operate and manage Automated Entry Control Systems (AECS) client workstations.
- Utilize the NSWC PCD badge system to:
- Create and issue access credential badges.
- Edit and update access rights and user records.
- Produce relevant access reports for review and action.
- Controlled Keys and Badges Tracking:
- Assist in tracking and managing controlled keys and badges to ensure proper accountability.
- Maintain accurate records of keys and badges, monitoring their issuance and return.
- Loss Prevention and Property Tracking:
- Support the Loss Prevention Program by tracking lost, missing, or stolen property.
- Identify trends in security breaches or incidents through metrics.
- Prepare and present reports, metrics, and recommendations to the Physical Security Officer for review and improvement of security measures.
Qualifications:
- Ability to access and handle classified information (SECRET level or higher).
- Experience with physical security assessments, antiterrorism measures, and emergency management protocols.
- Familiarity with security documentation (e.g., SF 701, SF 702) and security logs.
- Proficiency in operating Automated Entry Control Systems (AECS) and other access control software.
- Experience with key and badge tracking systems.
- Ability to generate reports and present findings related to security metrics and recommendations.
Working Environment:
Work performed in a government-provided workspace and may be required to interact with sensitive security systems and classified materials. Must be able to work with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
