POSITION OVERVIEW :

The employee benefits & compensation coordinator position assists employees with benefits enrollment and questions, verifies all insurance billing, gathers and researches compensation data, audits compensation-related data, maintains employee database and files, and ensures compliance with required benefit notices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary :

  • Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits.
  • Attending orientation and explaining benefits self-enrollment system.
  • Conducts audits to ensure benefits changes are processed with the carrier and deductions are accurate for payroll.
  • Assist employees with health, dental, life and other related benefit questions and claims.
  • Correspond with employees to gather documentation and provide guidance and resources.
  • Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for group insurance policies and ensure Accounts Payable receives all invoices in a timely manner.
  • Administer COBRA; audit to ensure COBRA enrollments are processed timely with the carrier.
  • Ensure that workers' compensation claims are filed timely with third-party administrator then perform any follow up on claims that is needed.
  • Prepare and set up meetings designed to help employees obtain information and understand company benefits and other related incentive programs. Ensure distribution of required employee notices.
  • Assist supervisor / director in completing benefits reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute reports for annual increases; audit to ensure timely processing.
  • Audit pay data to ensure compliance.
  • Gather data to assist the director with making compensation recommendations.
  • Assist with preparing reports for processing pay changes, bonuses, and other compensation related tasks.
  • Audit job profiles, compensation grades, job classifications and other data for accuracy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing compensation practices such as Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Equal Pay Act.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Education and Experience :

  • High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in employee benefits administration.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP and CEBS professional designations preferred.
  • REASONING ABILITY :

    Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and provide timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and multi-task multiple projects.
  • Familiarity with human resources policies and procedures.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS :

    Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.
