Job Summary

Responsible for the daily repair, maintenance, installation, and testing of fuel dispensing and related equipment in stores.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform timely and professional repair and maintenance of fuel dispensing equipment following equipment priority codes.
  • Install and start up fuel dispensing and related equipment.
  • Instruct store personnel on the proper use of fuel dispensing equipment.
  • Recommend system changes and upgrades as needed.
  • Conduct petroleum line testing from fuel storage devices to dispensers.
  • Train other fuel service technicians.
  • Record repair work and associated costs by completing Service Work Orders (SWOs) promptly.
  • Complete transfer forms for accurate inventory counts and proper part allocation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience with at least two (2) manufacturers' training certifications.
  • Certified or skilled in repairing at least two of the following systems :
  • Gilbarco Dispensers and / or POS systems

  • Tokheim Dispensers and / or POS systems
  • Schlumberger Dispensers and / or POS systems
  • Tank Monitoring Systems
  • TDA calibration certification required and must be maintained.
  • Strong knowledge of all gasoline dispensing systems within the SSP / APT network.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Skilled in using digital multi-meters for troubleshooting and leak detector testing equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally with store personnel, customers, and management.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, on-call shifts, evenings, and holidays.
  • Practical problem-solving skills to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Proficiency in both electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
  • Exposure to wet or humid conditions, with 80% of work performed outdoors.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit, talk, or hear.
  • Must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds, bend, twist, climb ladders, and work at heights above eight (8) feet.
  • Exposure to liquids, plastic, glass, paper, rubber, and petroleum products in environments that may contain hydrocarbons.
