Terry's Electric Substation Division specializes in the construction of new substations as well as the modification, upgrading, maintenance, and repair of existing substations for utility companies throughout Florida.
At Terry's Electric, we are committed to the training and growth of our employees to meet the latest safety standards and equipment operation. We provide training and certification for our technicians in Power Company Safety Standards, OSHA, and equipment such as Boom Lift, Excavator, and Digger Derrick.
We are currently seeking a dynamic Substation Wireman to join our team for projects throughout the state of Florida.
PLEASE NOTE : This position is for a Substation Industrial / Commercial Electrician, NOT a Lineman.
Job Description :
As a Substation Wireman , you will be part of a team performing a wide range of tasks within a substation. Key responsibilities include understanding and working with control wiring in the control house, with the ability to properly terminate control cables.
Job Requirements :
- No issues with heights or working from a boom lift.
- Must hold a Commercial Journeyman Electrical License or have a minimum of 4 years of experience as a Substation Electrician.
- Responsible for completing all required paperwork and job logs.
- Coordinate and document any scope changes.
- Advanced knowledge of substation work in accordance with power company standards, including pulling and terminating control cables, conduit installation, control house build-outs, setting relay panels, installing cable tray systems, assisting with switch adjustments, and setting equipment and steel structures.
- Ability to interpret plans to create material requisitions and determine resources needed to complete projects.
- Ability to understand, communicate, and train on hand signals required for equipment operation.
- Proficient in rigging with an understanding of equipment and sling weight limitations, as well as the proper procedures for binding and securing loads for safe transportation.
- Ability to work with limited or no supervision.
- Ability to troubleshoot power circuits.
- Ability to work for extended periods in high heat and direct sunlight.
- Adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
- Willingness to travel.
- CDL Class A driver's license with a clean driving record is a plus.
