Essential Job Duties:
- Youth BIs work with children and youth with disabilities assisting them with daily living activities, personal development, and community integration.
- Encourage and facilitate the participation of individuals in social, recreational, vocational activities, both within the program and in the broader community.
- Promote and teach essential life skills, including communication, problem-solving, decision making, and self-advocacy, to enhance independence and empower individuals as defined by each client’s prescribed plan.
- Provide person-centered approaches, positive behavior support, and principles of dignity and respect during modeling.
- BI staff will be accountable for the progress and development of the clients.
- Observe and document individual progress, behaviors, and any incidents or changes in health or behavior, adhering to all confidentiality and reporting requirements.
- Gather information for Youth Program Supervisor that will help with the assessment process.
- Ensures documentation is accurate, compliant, and timely for services rendered.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that respects and values diversity.
- Comply with all agency policies, procedures, and regulations, including health and safety guidelines.
- Implement interventions – work directly with individuals to implement behavior modification techniques, such as reinforcement, modeling, and teaching coping strategies.
- Monitor progress – track the effectiveness of interventions by collecting and analyzing data on behavior changes, and adjusting the plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate and complete service provision records, including post-session and concurrent documentation.
- Crisis response – in cases of severe or escalated behavior, provide interventions to de-escalate the individual and ensure the safety of the individual and others around them.
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
- Must hold a four-year BA or BS degree, preferably in a human service field from a nationally accredited university or college.
- Must provide a copy of the degree along with something authenticating the degree: a sealed transcript, a release to secure a copy of the degree to Tesh from the college or university it was received from, etc.
- Must complete 12 hours of continuing education courses/credits in behavior intervention to maintain BI certification per state requirements.
- Must be able to work well with others.
- Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to transfer clients in and out of wheelchairs into vehicles or on and off toilets.
- Provide toileting care and personal care services when necessary.
- May be required to provide physical supportive restraint when necessary.
- Must pass national background check and drug screen prior to employment.
- Paid experience in rehabilitation appreciated but not necessary.
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
- Must have excellent driving record and able to pass a motor vehicle driving check.
- Must provide driver’s license and proof of insurance.
Wage:
- Starting wage $18.00 per hour.
- This position is entitled to overtime when over 40 hours are worked within one work week; overtime is not expected.
Fringe Benefits:
- If a person works an average of 25 hours/week for three months, they will be eligible for pro-rated health care benefits including medical, dental, and vision. Paid holiday, sick, and vacation also pro-rated.
- If working 36 hours/week or more, eligible for full benefits including medical, dental and vision. Paid holiday, sick, and vacation time after 90 days.
