We are looking for a highly motivated individual to accelerate our vehicle-level testing for autonomous vehicles. The Autopilot Test Engineer will help drive Tesla's Autopilot development by testing Autopilot firmware and ensure regulatory compliance of the vehicle in local markets. This is a full-time position which requires someone who is highly organized, confident in their high-performance driving ability, objectively focused when making judgements, and confident in their ability to manage projects along a very fluid schedule.
This role is based in Tarragona, Spain but also requires the flexibility of traveling (up to 40%) to various domestic and international destinations as necessary, to test vehicles on public roads, test tracks, and proving grounds.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate Tesla test procedures in the areas of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and generate test plans based on program plans and executive direction
- Survey the local region, design test specs, and create judgement criteria with regards to interesting scenarios for Autopilot testing
- Execute real-world testing against designed test specifications, as well as providing ad-hoc support for specifically requested scenarios
- Triage, analyze, and track regional Autopilot performance, depending on the root causes, work with local Service/Service Engineering or Software QA team on issue escalation
- Identify effective test strategies for new/existing features and craft test plans accordingly
- Develop tooling/automation to improve the efficiency of the test team
- Analyze issues detected during your tests or reported by others and work closely with firmware developers to fix issues and validate software changes
- Review of system requirements for test ability and make sure software meets federal and internal requirements
- Analyze data collected during testing to figure out if the vehicle meets federal and internal requirements and make recommendations to the internal design teams based on findings
- Work with internal engineering teams and external governing agencies to develop and validate vehicle performance
Requirements
- Studied in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent education required and proficiency in C/C , MATLAB or Python preferred
- Experience in troubleshooting on both software and hardware level and experience in vehicle road testing specifically related to Vehicle Dynamics or Autonomous Vehicles and with various NCAP programs (EU, US, CN) preferred
- Experience in testing ADAS features, CAN working knowledge, and/or experience testing computer vision systems is a big plus
- Outstanding attention to detail and highly observational, ability to work in an extremely fast-paced environment, and ability to multitask and coordinate multiple parallel program and executive priorities
- Flexibility of traveling to various domestic and international destinations, when necessary, to test vehicles on public roads, test tracks, and proving grounds
- Ability to interpret regulations and test procedures in collaboration with different teams and ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and 3rd parties
- Excellent written and spoken English and work in a team-based environment to achieve common goals & establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Must be comfortable driving prototype vehicles during testing that may lack safety features. Valid driver's license required

$104,000 - $174,000/annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
