Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Collections Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the billing process, ensuring accurate coding and timely submission of claims to insurance companies. This role requires an understanding of medical terminology, coding practices, and the ability to navigate various billing systems effectively.
Duties
- Review and verify patient information and medical records for accuracy before billing.
- Utilize coding systems to accurately code diagnoses and procedures.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise during the billing process.
- Maintain detailed records of billing transactions, payments received, and outstanding balances.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any questions regarding patient care or documentation needed for billing.
- Conduct medical collections as necessary, communicating with patients regarding their accounts.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.
- Manage patient records by filing, updating, and maintaining accurate information in the system.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate patient flow to optimize office efficiency.
- Handle incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information regarding services offered.
- Process medical collections
- Manage accounts receivable, billing and collections
Qualifications
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology and medical office procedures.
- Experience in medical billing, coding, or related fields is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical records management and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong understanding of medical coding standards
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
- Previous experience in medical collections is mandatory.
- Certification in medical billing or coding is desirable but not mandatory.
