As a member of the Energy Products Architecture Controls group, you will model, develop, specify, and implement innovative and advanced estimation and control algorithms in our residential and industrial battery systems. This role involves collaboration with multiple teams, including engineering, firmware and service. If this sounds like you, Tesla just might be the place to make your mark.What You’ll DoUse a variety of cell and battery pack models, fleet data, and laboratory test data to create state-of-the-art control and estimation algorithms for Tesla’s high voltage battery packsWork on projects from cell state-of-charge, impedance, energy, and degradation estimationWork on projects related to fault diagnostics of sensors, cells and battery pack componentsCreate physics-based modeling of cell and pack elementsCreate and integrate models, define algorithms, write testing code, and evaluate the performance of algorithms throughout the life of the productWork cross-functionally with cell modeling, firmware, and battery safety organizationsWhat You’ll Bring2 years of experience with battery algorithm designDegree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Materials engineering, or equivalent experienceExperience with modeling of lithium ion cells with basic understanding of their electrochemical physicsSimulating dynamic models of electrical systemsHave strong knowledge in linear systems analysis, estimation algorithm design, and controls theoryExperience in specifying or executing tests on cells in laboratory environmentUnderstanding of diagnostic techniques for cells and battery pack componentsPreferred : Experience writing SQL queries for monitoring and processing fleet dataExperience with MATLAB / SimulinkStrong communication and preference for working in teamsCompensation and BenefitsAlong with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire : Aetna PPO and HSA plans >
