In this position you will proactively support the Quality Managerin ensuring site quality standards are maintained in accordance with Tesla expectations, standards, specifications, and contract documents. Inspectors must be prepared to escalate concerns to the appropriate party and always promote a culture of quality. This role will require collaboration across functional groups to ensure safe and quality installations. This is a role that requires sound technical judgement and creative problem-solving skills to support field operations.
What You'll Do
- Perform surveillance and inspections for earthworks, piling, cast-in-place concrete, structural steel, grouting, fabrication, and installation of piping systems
- Types of activities include witnessing density testing, verifying compaction reports, verifying correct fill lifts, survey elevation verification, inspections of reinforcing steel, formwork, witnessing slump tests, verifying barrel turns, verifying structural plumbness and square, verifying proper tensioning of connections, witnessing Skidmore testing, verify proper welding procedures are being followed, pressure testing activities, etc.
- Monitor the inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established quality standards
- Interpret design drawings and specifications
- Implement established procedures for inspection activities
- Monitor contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers' installation of material and equipment for quality compliance
- Perform periodic vendor surveillance on shop fabrication of material for the project
What You'll Bring
- 5 years of relevant industry experience in a multi-disciplinary QA/QC role (heavy industrial, oil & gas, complex chemical plants)
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector Certification
- Must have good aptitude and manual dexterity
- Ability to work with others – team player
- Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors
- Broad knowledge of the quality principles and their application to engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, and commissioning
- Knowledge of application of corrective actions to reconcile nonconforming conditions
