What To Expect
The Sr. EHS Specialist will be a part of the EHS Energy Manufacturing Team, supporting the Tesla Energy Cell Manufacturing and other energy sites (multiple manufacturing facilities within three miles radius). The Sr. EHS Specialist will need to have a solid understanding of safety regulations, risk management, and engineering principles. Key responsibilities include investigating accidents, conducting root cause analyses, and recommending corrective actions to prevent future incidents. Additionally, this individual will be expected to communicate recommendations brightly and briefly to employees at all levels in the company. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams and addressing safety challenges.
What You'll Do
Drive one of more manufacturing department EHS outcomes through leadership and employee engagement in alignment with the business and EHS strategies Actively work with factory stakeholders to ensure that Production and Factory changes result in improved controls of risks to health, safety and the environment Perform audits and inspections, document results, and verify action = closure. Deliver EHS training and facilitate workshops with onsite teams Analyze event trends and use risk-assessment methods to identify continuous improvement projects that reduce injury, illness and environmental impact events. Facilitate investigations from a Learning Teams approach, ensuring worker involvement and that preventative actions address system causes and not just individual behaviors Participate in pre-job planning and verification of controls/safeguards before new, high risk, and non-standard work begins Partner with EHS specialties (Environmental, Construction Safety, Equipment Safety, EHS Systems and Tools, EHS Training, etc.) as needed to ensure effective service delivery Monitor and administer EHS systems and tools used onsite (e.g., event reporting, performance dashboards, action trackers, management of change, etc.). Develop new procedures, inspections, trainings, or reports as needed
What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field; or equivalent experience Minimum 3 years work experience as an environmental, health or safety professional, preferably in a manufacturing, oil & gas, construction, or similar workplace. Experience working with cross functional teams effectively thanks to teamwork, bias-toward action, front-loaded accountability, and empathy. Experience supporting EHS program development, training all levels of personnel, and influencing/managing change to reduce risk and improve outcomes Experience with hazard analysis methods, hazard communication, powered industrial vehicle safety, OSHA compliance, event/incident investigation and learnings, and corrective action management Familiarity with industrial hygiene, industrial ergonomics, machine safety, environmental compliance processes Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and deadlines Excellent customer service skills. Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Project, etc.)
