What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrician, Data Center, Facilities position at Tesla?
The ideal candidate has experience in performing general, preventative, and emergency maintenance of data center equipment and infrastructure, as well as strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, plumbing, and process systems operation and maintenance in a critical data center environment.
Responsibilities
Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and installs electrical equipment supporting all critical data center infrastructure
Works closely with Data Center Operations and Engineers, ensuring effective communication with both teams on daily tasks and project execution
Performs general maintenance duties, preventive maintenance, Lockout / Tagout (LOTO) execution and administration, trouble calls, and emergency maintenance as needed in the data center environment
Works daily on Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks related to equipment such as VFDs, switchgear, and motors with voltages ranging from 120-480V and 4160-25kV, ensuring the integrity and performance of data center power systems
Troubleshoots motors, VFDs, and complex electrical circuits, addressing issues to maintain uptime and ensure data center reliability
Strong understanding of NFPA 70E and LOTO practices is essential to maintaining safe operations within the data center
Completes tasks in a timely manner and provides feedback to ensure continuous improvement in data center operations as well as other duties required to support data center operations
Requirements
Must have a minimum of 5 years related work experience as an Industrial or Commercial Electrician, experience in data center or critical infrastructure maintenance is preferred but not required
Knowledge in using hand tools, electrical meters, and testing equipment specific to data center applications
Proficiency in sizing conductors, conduits, and using the NEC Code Book for electrical work within a data center
Experience with electrical systems spanning from 24VDC to 120 / 277-480 / 4160 / 25kV AC, with a strong background in troubleshooting motor controls, drives, and electronic components in data centers.
Ability to install electrical equipment and perform circuit modifications within a data center environment, interpret electrical prints and schematics, ensuring proper installation and modification of electrical systems
Must have strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with all levels of management; must demonstrate a high degree of initiative, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively

Essential Physical Demands
Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day
Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to : hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, reflective vest, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
