What are the responsibilities and job description for the Failure Analysis Engineer, High Voltage Battery position at Tesla?
The Failure Analysis Team's mission is to determine root cause and contributing factors to improve the experience of Tesla's products by reducing field issues, in collaboration with large cross-section of other engineering teams. Engineers and Technicians on the team are responsible for a wide variety of vehicle and energy product systems for existing models and models in development. This role will focus on Failure Analysis activities on high voltage battery systems and sub-components, including teardown and inspection development, tool creation, and coordination with testing teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop methods and execute teardown and failure analysis investigations on high voltage battery packs, modules, and related components
- Work with electrical and mechanical test equipment to characterize failed components
- Work with CNC, Waterjet, and other machine-shop / fabrication equipment to develop new teardown techniques
- Document and communicate findings, techniques, and procedures
- Present FA findings in broad team meetings
- Coordinate and cross train other engineers and technicians

84,000 - $192,000 / annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
