What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inspection Supervisor position at Tesla?
The Inspections Supervisor will oversee Inspection Operations across their territory for Tesla Energy Operations. Reporting to the Permits and Inspections Manager, this individual will ensure that all energy related projects have successful passed inspection in accordance to local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements. The Inspections Supervisor will be accountable for execution of weekly, monthly, and quarterly production metrics for their territory, have regular collaboration with field operations and other cross-functional teams, and will help execute on improvements to overall process, efficiency, cost, and quality. The Inspections Supervisor will have direct oversight of field-based Inspection Coordinators for their territory.
- Lead Inspections Coordinators to successfully meet company goals around passing inspections for energy products.
- Work cross-functionally to manage inspections timelines to remain within healthy operating levels. Identify and execute on targeted improvements to speed.
- Help identify staffing needs for your territory and work with recruiting and field ops to hire to plan in each office.
- Drive performance management for all inspections roles in your region.
- In collaboration with various support groups, identify opportunities to continue to improve inspections coordinator efficiencies and quality. Support full implementation of solutions and measure success.
- Track and monitor key inspections quality metrics – failures, process compliance, etc. Identify areas for targeted improvements and office level focus needed.
- Support implementation of strategic campaigns for new products, tools, and processes – aim for rapid AHJ education and adoption
- Attend AHJ meetings and events as needed to represent Company interests.
- Work with training team to ensure adequate training coverage for all field employees and manage training completion metrics among direct reports.
- Enforce proper use and documentation within permitting and inspections tools, especially the AHJ database, Bolt, and Grid case procedures.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of people management is preferred
- Experience managing the permitting and inspections processes within construction and/or solar highly preferred
- Familiarity with solar and storage products highly preferred
- Experience with execution of processes to improve efficiency and quality output
- Experience using data to drive decisions and targeted problem solving
- Ability to travel overnight for more than 20% of the time, depending on the size region
- Ability to manage day to day workflow while also supporting strategic initiatives
- Excellent customer service skills required
- Excellent time management and organizational skills required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
Salary : $74,000 - $93,600
