The Cell Quality team is a small team within the Cell Engineering organization. The group conducts thorough failure analysis investigations to identify and present critical safety and reliability risks to suppliers as well as design, manufacturing, research, and safety teams. Cell Quality also supports development of new mass production cell candidates by guiding design decisions, contributing to cell supplier specification requirements, and collaborating on cell material and process development projects.
The Cell Quality Team is seeking an ambitious, enthusiastic, and fast-learning candidate to fill a new and crucial role in the planning, design, construction, and build-out of a brand-new Cell Engineering lab. The candidate will be required to interface with multiple cross-functional teams and vendors. The candidate must possess the ability to build and maintain valuable business relationships. In addition to responsibilities in the design and construction of the lab, this role will be responsible for independently developing, implementing, and monitoring safe, efficient, and sustainable lab protocols and procedures. Experience in any of the following fields will be highly beneficial : Li-ion, automotive, nuclear, semiconductor, or medical. Safe, compliant, and efficient lab operations will be the top priority for this role.
Responsibilities
- Work with cross-functional teams to assist in the design, build, commissioning, and launch of a Cell Engineering lab to support Qualification & Quality of various cell programs
- Establish and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure timely support, procurements, and equipment installation
- Develop, implement, and maintain lab procedures to maximize safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance
- Monitor and promote strict adherence to lab safety and operations protocols
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation to optimize throughput, consistency, and organization
- Support state-of-the-art test iteration and development of novel fixtures and automation to improve cell characterization and failure analysis processes
- Manage execution of non-standard lab operations and become the subject matter expert on all lab characterization and analysis tools, techniques, and processes
- Train and assist personnel in the operation of test equipment and supervise proper use of lab resources
- Manage lab resource scheduling, maintenance, and downtime to optimize resource utilization
- Report to lab management and cross-functional teams on lab operations, safety, and efficiency metrics
