Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Project Material Flow Data Engineer to lead the development and implementation of data-driven solutions that optimize our supply chain and operational performance. This hybrid role requires a unique blend of technical expertise and project management skills to drive cross-functional initiatives from concept to completion.
The production control team and builds software that controls the material movement inside the warehouses, yards, trucks and the factory.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python programming, data pipeline architecture, and big data technologies, coupled with experience in web development using React and Streamlit. You will be responsible for integrating SCADA systems (Ignition), optimizing data workflows, and developing APIs to support seamless communication across platforms.
In addition to technical skills, you will oversee project timelines, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure alignment between business objectives and technical solutions. Your understanding of supply chain processes, including replenishment, Kanban, and inventory management, will be critical in optimizing our operations.
What You'll Do
Oversee the development of scalable data pipelines, ensuring efficient data flow and integration across systems Architect and implement robust API solutions to support seamless communication between data platforms and business applications Deliver responsive, user-friendly dashboards and visualization tools to support real-time decision-making for supply chain operations Manage the design, optimization, and maintenance of relational and NoSQL databases to ensure data integrity and performance Lead SCADA system integration using Ignition to enhance real-time monitoring, data acquisition, and operational efficiency Utilize big data technologies to extract actionable insights from large datasets, driving continuous improvement in supply chain processes Partner with stakeholders across supply chain, IT, and operations to align data strategies with business objectives Implement CI/CD pipelines and version control strategies to streamline development workflows and ensure consistent, high-quality releases Apply expertise in replenishment, Kanban, and inventory management to develop data-driven solutions that enhance supply chain efficiency Establish standards for data quality, security, and system performance, ensuring reliable, scalable data infrastructure
What You'll Bring
Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience Strong experience writing clean, efficient, and scalable Python code for data manipulation, ETL processes, and automation Deep understanding of replenishment processes, pull-based inventory systems, and Kanban methodologies, with the ability to translate business needs into data-driven solutions and manage related projects efficiently Skilled in building dynamic, responsive web applications using React, including state management with Redux or Context API. Experience with Streamlit for quickly developing interactive data dashboards and visualizations, particularly for supply chain KPIs and real-time data insights Expertise in building and maintaining data pipelines using Apache Airflow, Luigi, or Prefect to automate data workflows, particularly in supply chain environments Proven experience designing and implementing solutions using Ignition SCADA for real-time data acquisition, monitoring, and industrial automation. Integrated SCADA systems with manufacturing and supply chain processes to improve operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making Hands-on experience with big data frameworks like Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka for distributed data processing, with a focus on processing supply chain data such as logistics, procurement, and inventory datasets Strong SQL skills with experience in relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra), with an understanding of data warehousing concepts relevant to supply chain management Experience using Git for version control, integrating CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins) for automated testing and deployment, and troubleshooting complex data, application, and supply chain process issues while collaborating with cross-functional teams Ability to develop and manage RESTful APIs using Django REST Framework or Flask for data access, system integrations, and seamless communication between supply chain systems (ERP, WMS, TMS) and web applications
