What To Expect
Tesla is looking for a highly-motivated Engineer to contribute to implementing and sustaining Industrial Engineering principles to the total manufacturing process of our cutting-edge Energy Products and Model 3 Powertrain at Gigafactory Nevada, outside Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Through a detailed understanding of the factory objectives and extensive collaboration with internal and external teams, you will help optimize our manufacturing and material flow process. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Tesla’s world class manufacturing facility in Nevada. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work on critical subsystems of an incredibly exciting product.
What You'll Do
Design and validate detailed material flow models to accurately forecast labor requirements, identify potential bottlenecks, and optimize inventory buffers for new and existing products Design and implement layout and space optimization initiatives for existing and new production lines, utilizing 2D CAD design to integrate new lines and products into the factory footprint Collaborate with Production Control teams to develop site logistics plans to optimize warehousing, yard operations, trailer management, and production workflow integration Work with factory simulation/modeling teams to validate and develop flow paths, aisle sizing for products, raw materials, and work in progress inventory Provide high quality decision support through, primarily but not limited to, Excel analysis, discrete event simulation, linear programming, and other operations research methods Partner with cross-functional teams, including Packaging Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Finance, to develop and implement optimized material flow solutions Facilitate structured problem-solving and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operations and drive business results Develop business cases to justify capital investments for strategic growth
What You'll Bring
Degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience Prior experience with material flow optimization, preferred Track record of excellence in current and prior roles 6 years of experience in layout design for either manufacturing or warehousing Deep understanding of material delivery methods (i.e. powered industrial equipment, automated guided vehicles, conveyor, rail-guided vehicles) and strategies (i.e. forklift-free) Experience in driving multiple concurrent improvement projects as part of a high-performing team Extensive detailed material flow analysis experience to make data-driven decisions and summarize results for executives Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines Extensive experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit Microsoft Excel Prior knowledge of work measurement techniques, data analytics (SQL, Tableau, Power BI,), discrete event simulation, operations research, lean manufacturing, scale manufacturing
