What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Test Technician, Tesla Bot position at Tesla?
In this role, you will work as a member of Tesla’s Optimus Test Team and support the component, sub-system and system level testing of Optimus robot. As a test technician, you will be responsible for assembling of of test fixtures, executing material, performance and reliability testing, and collecting data. You will work closely with reliability and test engineers to execute test plans in a highly dynamic environment. As a successful candidate, you have great mechanical or electrical hands-on skills, and you are able to work effectively and independently.
What You’ll Do- Build test fixtures and conduct component and system level tests
- Compile, organize, and archive test results
- Document and report issues identified during tests or inspections
- Plan, procure, organize and maintain test parts, devices and equipment
- Collaborate with engineers to resolve issues discovered
- Provide written and verbal test status updates to key stakeholders through Jira
- Support engineering teams in instrumentation and data acquisition
- Comply with safety policies and regulations
- 3-years experience with mechanical, structural, material, or electrical testing
- Associates Degree in engineering or equivalent preferred
- Ability to safely operate a wide variety of hand and power tools, shop tools, and lab equipment
- Hands-on experience with test setup and execution
- Experience and knowledge of collecting data and reporting data in a data collection software like MS Excel is a must
- Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills, willingness to gain and share new knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively
- Familiarity with environmental stress testing or automated test systems is a plus
- Positive attitude, eager to learn and ability to change direction quickly
- Remain engaged, proactive and positive in tough circumstances
- Own assignments and take full accountability for their success
- High awareness of safety procedures and practices
