What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tool & Die Manager, Cell Can Stamping position at Tesla?
We are seeking an experienced Tooling Manager to oversee the maintenance and repairs of can stamping dies and other special equipment. The successful candidate will lead and manage a team of toolmakers, develop and implement a robust preventative maintenance program, and drive continuous improvement activities to ensure tool reliability and reduce downtime.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of toolmakers, including supervising and coordinating their activities, training and development, and teaching die maintenance troubleshooting techniques to improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR)
- Work with engineering to develop and implement a preventative maintenance program to ensure tool reliability and reduce downtime, including creating and maintaining work instructions and procedures for the tool room, and collaborating with the production team to plan, troubleshoot, and analyze production tooling issues and develop solutions
- Track and analyze maintenance costs, and develop budgets to ensure effective resource allocation, including identifying areas for cost savings and implementing cost-reduction initiatives
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe working environment
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve tooling maintenance and repair processes.
- Ensure availability of tooling spare and wear parts and develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for tooling lifetime, maintenance cycles, and maintenance costs
