Job Summary: The Boulder Public Library District is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, dedicated, and sensitive culturally diverse English and Spanish Second Language Program Coordinator to oversee the delivery and administration of our language classes and programs. The primary responsibilities of the Program Coordinator involve building the ESL and SSL curriculum, teaching ESL classes, overseeing and/or teaching SSL classes, recruiting and supporting adult learners, and managing the program's logistics and administrative needs. The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish and is passionate about adult education, literacy, community engagement, and fostering a welcoming learning environment for a diverse population.

This is a 40-hour, non-exempt, at-will role. An ideal applicant will be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and sometimes weekends, to support programs and outreach. The exact schedule for this role will depend on classes.

Light work in an office environment and periodic meetings and outreach in the community at community organizations” offices and events. Exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Performing repetitive motions and grasping, lifting, and/or raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects. Seeing, hearing, and speaking are required.

Essential Functions

- Design and teach engaging and effective ESL and SSL classes for adult learners of varying proficiency levels.
- Develop curriculum and lesson plans aligned with learners” needs, program goals, and best practices in language acquisition.
- Use technology and multimedia resources to enhance teaching methods.
- Conduct assessments to measure learners” progress and adapt instruction accordingly.
- Actively recruit adult learners from diverse backgrounds, including outreach to underserved communities.
- Foster partnerships with local organizations and community groups to promote the program and build enrollment.
- Create and distribute marketing materials to raise awareness of the program.
- Oversee the program schedule, including coordinating class times and locations.
- Reserve class spaces, add classes to the library”s calendar, and update the program”s website.
- Manage registration processes and maintain accurate attendance and progress records.
- Prepare and submit reports on program outcomes and metrics to stakeholders.
- Maintain the program budget, track expenditures, and procure necessary materials.
- Provide guidance and support to program participants, helping them set and achieve personal language learning goals.
- Collaborate with other library staff and community partners to integrate language programming into broader initiatives.
- Train, supervise, and mentor volunteers and/or part-time instructors who assist with program delivery.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor”s degree in Education, Language Instruction, Linguistics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience teaching ESL and SSL, coordinating programs, working with volunteers, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, with excellent oral and written communication skills in both languages.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Cultural competency and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, especially in the context of adult education.
- Proficiency with technology, including virtual meeting platforms and educational software, skills using Microsoft Office, managing databases and various technology tools, and ability to learn and manage volunteer database/management systems.
- Proved ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, create strategic relationships with key partner organizations, and learn about community needs to design and improve programming.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and sometimes weekends, to support programs and outreach.
- Master”s degree in a relevant field or a TESOL/TEFL certification.
- Experience in community outreach or marketing.
- Familiarity with library systems and resources.
