Pay: $28- $30/hr.

Pay: $28- $30/hr.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Creating and customizing instructional materials (including lesson plans, curricula, and syllabi) based on training and experience to deliver high-quality lessons for adult English Language Learners.
- Teaching in-person while also providing online instruction using various online tools and platforms (e.g., Zoom, email, Google Drive) as needed.
- Assisting with outreach and recruitment for all ESOL classes offered at the Center for Family Life.
- Assisting with student registration and completing all necessary paperwork.
- Assessing each student's level using Best Plus 2.0 to ensure appropriate class placement.
- Conducting formal and informal assessments to track student progress and establish learning objectives tailored to each student”s needs
- Maintaining daily student attendance records and following up with students with low attendance.
- Assisting with monthly progress updates and check-ins for students.
- Collecting and maintaining student work for portfolios.
- Communicating with the program director regarding barriers to student success (e.g., child care needs, potential health or housing issues).
- Coordinating with the program director to ensure students” progress toward achieving their goals.
- Providing all required information for weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Attending at least eighteen (18) hours of professional development activities within the fiscal year.
- Minimum of a Bachelor”s degree (B.A.) required, preferably in Education, ESL, TESOL, English, English Literature, or a related area and at least 2 years relevant teaching experience
- Strong communication skills and a high level of English proficiency
- Computer literacy in areas such as Microsoft Office and Excel
- Ability to teach online using various platforms and integrate technology in the classroom
- BEST Plus certification or a willingness to become certified
- Experience working with immigrant communities, asylum seekers, and/or low-level emergent bilingual students preferred
- Ability to provide services in a manner that celebrates diversity and is sensitive to the backgrounds, experiences, cultures, and levels of all program participants
- Bilingual Spanish preferred; knowledge of other languages, such as French and/or French Creole, also an asset
- Must reside in New York City or be within reasonable commuting distance
Salary : $28 - $30
