THIS IS A LONG-TERM SUB POSITION to fill a temporary vacancy that will finish on the last day of the 2024-2025 school year. Under direction of the school principal and/or appropriate supervisor, the LTS (Long Term Substitute) will gain essential and meaningful teaching experience. Excellent performance in this capacity will position a teacher well to compete for permanent teaching positions in Providence Schools and elsewhere.Compensation and benefits for this position are equal to the compensation and benefits of a regular teacher including salary according to the Providence teacher salary scale (including during school vacation) on a step determined by previous teaching experience (credit given for experience in accredited schools and/or in a certified capacity). Other benefits include paid sick days, generous health benefits, and paid professional development.

Under direction of the school principal and/or appropriate supervisor, plans and provides for English as a Second Language instruction to students who have been identified as in need of ESL support by the district's annual English Language Proficiency assessment.

Bachelor's degree in the applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
RIDE Certification Requirements
Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans using instructional materials aligned to grade level standards that facilitate active and engaging learning for all students.
Provide appropriate scaffolds for Multilingual learners of varying English Language proficiency levels to ensure they can meaningfully access grade level content
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, using relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities and provide appropriate feedback on assignments.
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing a warm, welcoming, and culturally relevant environment.
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and regularly use data to observe and evaluate student performance and development to adjust teaching strategies.
Maintain and update accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues, and families regarding student progress and student needs in a language they can understand.
Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities to support all students.
Actively participate in and contribute to department, school, district and parent meetings and professional development.
Make recommendations for students who are being referred or during IEP meetings regarding instruction and assessments.
Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments according to state standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
