Your experience includes...
- Bachelor of Science in computer science, data science, or related field with 5 years of experience (or Masters / 3 , PhD) applying an engineering discipline to biomedical research, biotechnology, or computational biology at a scientific research institute or in thebiotechnology industry.
- Proficiency in using Python or another modern programming language
- Proficiency in SQL and experience in data modeling and database design.
- Cloud-based software solutions (AWS preferred) and orchestration / integration software (e.g. Dagster, Nextflow). Knowledge of Docker.
- Software development skills including source control systems and integration / deployment strategies.

Understanding of data management best practices as it relates to biological data.

About you :
As part of the Computational Biology team within the Data Science department, you will lead the engineering efforts designed by Computational Biologists to solve targeted scientific biological questions. You will closely collaborate with Data Engineering and Software Engineering teams to deploy your solutions on AWS. Your expertise will be critical for integrating the technologies we use and developing strategic tools that support our research in clinical investigations. Additionally, you will apply your knowledge to create comprehensive documentation of your procedures and processes.

Andrea Calabria - Director, Computational Sciences
Andrea is an engineer by education (B.Sc. and M.Sc.) at the Polytechnic of Milan (Italy) and obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Milan Bicocca (Italy) in the field of computational biology. He spent 11 years after Ph.D. in the field of Gene Therapy at San Raffaele Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy of Milan (Italy), becoming a recognized researcher (his H-index is 24, ORCID https : / / orcid.org / 0000-0003-3515-3384) working on safety and insertional mutagenesis assessment of gene therapy treatments with viral vectors and dissecting hematopoietic stem cell differentiation in vivo in human with clonal dynamics. He joined Tesera in 2023, leading the team of computational biology with the responsibilities of supporting all the genotox packages for our drug candidates and new molecular assay developments.
